30-Hour

Continued Education YACEP

Join us for a 30-hour LIVE continuing education class designed specifically for yoga teachers, offering a unique blend of traditional Vedic philosophy and modern movement practices. This Yoga Alliance YACEP-approved course, Transformation through Yogic Practice, bridges ancient wisdom with contemporary understanding, allowing you to deepen your knowledge of yoga’s roots while enhancing your ability to meet the needs of the modern mind. Through an exploration of yoga etiology, we’ll dive into how ancient practices can transform both personal and teaching experiences, fostering growth and balance in every aspect of life.

From a contemporary perspective, this course explores how somatics, embodiment, and psychology intricately intertwine with the yogic path, guiding practitioners to deeper self-awareness and integration.

Through the mythology of Surya and the use of mantra, we’ll explore Surya Namaskar, learning to count vinyasas in Sanskrit, while also deepening our understanding of drishti types and their applications.

We'll honor Shiva through mantra and abishekam and explore the principles of embodied education, delving into the mythos of Vishnu, Sita Ram, and Hanuman as we work toward embodying Hanumanasana. With the teachings of Advaita non-duality and shadow work, students will engage in deep personal inquiry, exploring the forms of the Divine Mother and the power of the perennial wish mantra.

The course also incorporates the principles of the body’s natural intelligence, using the five fundamentals of movement, and a deep dive into the body systems to support cohesive movement. Through all of this, we focus on teaching from the heart, anchoring the practice in love and compassion.

Contemporary Topics

  • The body and the soma are two different entities.

One is known and categorized from the outside. One is known from the inside.

In a time where our neofrontal cortex (thinking and logic brain) is getting larger and the parts of the brain that perceive spatial awareness are shrinking, we need to return to the connection with the soma.

This section of instruction explores how we have veered away from this inner relationship and creates pathways for reconnection.

  • According to Susan Aposhyan, Natural Intelligence is “the synergistic intelligence that arises out of including all the resources of every tissue and fluid in the body.”

In our modern world, we seem to be moving further away from following the innate intelligence within our living tissues.

We have tamed and quieted many natural ways of responding to life.

Using the 6 Principles of Body-Mind Integration, this block of instruction provides us with several techniques and explorations to reconnect with the pulsing aliveness within our organism.

We use discussion and movement to explore this possibility.

  • In human development, our organism organizes itself in a series of movements as our body begins to interact with the world.

These 5 fundamental actions explain how we interface with the environment through bodily expression.

Depending on the conditions in which we were raised, our connection to these types of movement will vary in range from deeply connected and favored, to minimal access, to complete absence of connection.

This will be a self-exploration of these movements in your body that can then be applied to your teaching practice.

  • Returning to our natural intelligence requires conversations with each of the bodily systems. At varying stages in life, we need to attend to our bodily systems in fluctuating degrees. Opening a dialogue with these systems helps to facilitate the process of communication.

The emotional tone, accessibility, and perception of each system will offer insight into the individual systems, ultimately contributing to the whole.

This interaction between systems will deepen our experience of ourselves in wholeness.

  • This final section of material weaves what we studied into an integrative and transformational crescendo.

We will utilize techniques and practices to integrate and support the material moving forward.

Investigating healing, development, transformation, and evolution, we formulate ways to use the work of this course in your continued self-exploration and instruction.
